About Anderson Plumbing
IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
Our grandfather, Milward Valentine Anderson Sr., emigrated from Scotland in 1910 with a Sanitary Engineering Degree from Heriot Watt College in Edinburgh, Scotland. He worked for a company by the name of Burnett and Weir, who in 1910 had 38 shops in Southern Alberta which was quite a feat considering the transportation was by horse and wagon! Granddad ran the Crescent Heights Office, which at the time was a municipal district and not a community of Calgary. B & W owed some of their employees back wages and so my grandfather and a man by the name of Dick took over the company. Not long after that, Dick returned to England to pick up his bride and never returned, so he came off the company name. There were 5 children in our dad’s generation and at one time all three sons and two sons-in-law were employed by the company and its affiliates: Alberta Sheet Metal Products, and Aqua Soft. In 1975, our dad’s family took sole ownership of Anderson Plumbing while our cousins took over the operation of Alberta Sheet Metal Products and Aqua Soft. The company has stayed under the direction of M.V. Anderson Jr. sons from 1975 to the present.
